See what your agreements really cost – this year and the last five

Licens converts every price to annual cost excluding VAT and keeps the history. You see which subscriptions have become more expensive, how much is renewing soon and what you've saved by cancelling.

Why it's so hard to keep track of company subscriptions

Some subscriptions are billed monthly, others quarterly or yearly. Some are in euros or dollars. Some rise with the consumer price index every year without anyone noticing, and some only show up as a line on the company card. Add up the invoices in the ledger and you get a number – but not an answer to which agreements have gone up, or what you've actually committed to.

Licens solves this by normalising everything to one measure: annual cost in NOK excluding VAT. Foreign currencies are converted using Norges Bank's open exchange-rate API, and both the rate and the date are stored so the figures can be checked. Every price change is saved with a reason, so the history explains why costs moved.

What the dashboard shows

  • Total annual cost now

The sum of all active agreements, broken down by category, vendor and cost centre.

  • Five-year trend

Cost per year for the last five years and the year-over-year change in NOK and per cent.

  • Top 10 price increases

The agreements that have risen most, so you know where renegotiating pays off.

  • Renewing in the next 90 days

The amount coming up for renewal, so finance can plan and decide in time.

  • Savings from terminations

What the agreements you've cancelled would have cost per year.

  • Export to CSV and Excel

Take the figures into your budget, board pack or accounts.

Price history per agreement

Each agreement has a chart and a table of prices. Every change gets a reason:

  1. New agreement

The starting price when the agreement was signed.

  2. Renewal and CPI adjustment

Separate ordinary renewals from index-linked increases, so you see how much the index accounts for.

  3. Renegotiated or quantity change

See whether a change came from better terms or from buying more or fewer licences.

Questions about costs and statistics

Why excluding VAT?

For most businesses VAT is deductible, and figures excluding VAT can be compared across vendors and with your accounts.

How are agreements in euros or dollars handled?

The amount is converted to NOK using Norges Bank's open API. The rate and date are stored with the price, so you can see exactly what basis was used.

What is CPI adjustment, and why should I care?

Many agreements let the vendor adjust prices in line with the consumer price index, often once a year. Each adjustment is small, but across several years and many agreements it adds up. Recording changes as CPI adjustments lets you see the combined effect.

What happens to the price when an agreement auto-renews?

The last price is copied over as unconfirmed. The owner is asked to enter the new price or confirm it's unchanged, so your statistics aren't based on stale numbers.

Can I hide prices from some users?

Yes. You choose which roles can see prices. A viewer can, for example, see deadlines and vendors without seeing amounts.
